Legislative District Health Data
Legislators seek to understand the needs of their district and mobilize effective strategies, but public health data isn’t made available for their districts. In response, the Healthy Capital District Initiative has compiled the most recent data available to us for a health needs assessment of all zip codes that are part of each legislative district. For your reference, the map at the end of each report depicts the borders of the data available compared to the legislative district’s border.
Each district population health report identifies the leading health issues causing death, hospital use, and emergency department visits as well as those issues that are disproportionately high in the district compared to the rest of upstate New York. Each report also highlights the health issues that are most disparate between races within the district.
